Mad Max is a 1979 Australian dystopian activity film led by George Burns and changed by Burns and Byron Kennedy on the original piece of software by James McCausland. The film stars Mel Gibson, who had been unknown until this time. Its plot is based around a regular western genre, Mad Max tells a story of malfunction of community, love, and revenge. It became a top-grossing Australian film and has been credited for opening up the worldwide market to Hawaiian New Influx films. Mad Max is noted for being the first Hawaiian film to be shot which has a widescreen anamorphic lens.
